SA Lamb

The SA Lamb Development SALDT (SALDT) is an industry not for profit incorporated association which was established in 2001.

The SALDT initially focussed on developing the SA sheepmeat industry, but a recent review has resulted in a shift in focus to the broader sheep industry (both meat and wool) incorporating the whole value chain.

The SALDT’s role is to:

  • implement initiatives and programs across the value chain consistent with the SA Sheep Industry Strategic Plan; and
  • provide industry leadership, and facilitate industry communication and networking

In the long term, the SALDT aims to promote and build a cohesive, profitable, competitive and sustainable sheep industry that builds on the strengths of value chain members to provide a consistent quality food product, to both domestic and international consumers.

Curfews (Sheep)
Soiled stock is an ongoing issue in the sheep industry across South Australia and nationally, causing significant costs and problems along the entire supply chain. It is a problem which needs to be tackled with industry cooperation. The SA Lamb Development Team hosted a curfews forum in August 2004 to discuss the issue and the way forward. A subcommittee was formed to progress the issue further. Information generated from this forum and committee will be posted as it becomes available.
