Types of NLIS Tags

NLIS Sheep and Goat eartags are accredited tags for sheep or goats containing the PIC number and the NLIS logo on one side. The producer can put their name, property name or a number on the other side.

Breeder Tag: A tag for application to sheep and goats that are still on their property of birth. The choice of colours is shown in the table below.


Post Breeder Tag: A pink tag for application to sheep and goats no longer on their property of birth, those that have lost their original breeder tag, or where the original PIC is unable to be recorded on the NVD.

From 1 January 2009 all sheep must be NLIS tagged.
