NLIS Sheep and Goat Requirements

From January 2006

  • All properties running sheep or farmed goats requires a Property Identification Code (PIC). Register for a PIC
  • All lambs and kids born after January 2006 must be idintified with a breeder tag before leaving the property of birth.

The use of the year of birth colour is strongly recommended.

This includeds all movements to different properties, saleyards, abattoirs, shows and agistment.

Movement documentation must be kept for 7 years.

NVD's are obtained from Meat and Livestock Australia (external site) or by phone MLA on 1800 683 111.

National Sheep Health Statements can be obtained from your stock agent, local PIRSA office or by calling the PIRSA Help Desk on 1800 654 688.

 

From January 1st 2009

  • All sheep and goats must be identified with a approved PIC tag before leaving their property of consignment.

Exemptions

  • Harvested ferel goats will be exempt from mandatory tagging.
