Entry into South Australia

All bees and bee products, including used appliances, require a Form 3 Health Certificate to enter South Australia. This is a national certificate suitable for entry into other states.

Special entry requirements

The small hive beetle (SHB) is a notifiable disease that has been detected in Victoria.

To delay the introduction of SHB from Victoria into South Australia there are entry requirements in place for apiarists returning from Victoria.

Bees on Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island is a sanctuary for Ligurian bees.

No bees or second hand bee hives or any other equipment may be introduced to the Island. Apairy products are also restricted from entry to Kangaroo Island unless tested and verified to be free of disease. This must be certified by an apiary inspector.

Kangaroo Island is currently free of American Foulbrood, European Foulbrood and Chalkbrood.
