Apiary Industry Fund

Primary Industry Funding Schemes (Apiary Industry Fund) Regulations 2001 [External site - opens in new window] requires contributions to be paid into the Fund based on the number of hives kept.

The Apiary Industry Advisory Group is the consultative committee that advises the Minister in relation to the application of the fund.

When a person makes an application for registration or renewal of registration as a beekeeper, need to also pay:

  • 40 cents per hive kept by the person at the prescribed date; or
  • $2.00

whichever is the greater sum.

The fund can be used for:

  • undertaking programs relating to the apiary industry or apiary products
  • payment of the reasonable operating and management expenses of the Apiary Industry Advisory Group
  • payment of the expenses of administering the fund
  • repayment of contributions to the fund if a refund application is approved
