Sheep Brands

More than one brand can only be registered where the owner has more than one property.

The State is divided into five sheep districts:

  • Northern
  • Western
  • Central
  • South-East
  • Kangaroo Island

Sheep brands are available in four colours (red, blue, purple and green) and in four different positions (top of shoulders, near rib, off rib and rump).

If a registered brand is owned in one district, this cannot be transferred if moving to a new district. A new brand for that district will be needed and the old one cancelled if there is no further use for it. However, if properties are owned in both districts, a brand can be registered for each district.
