Horse, Cattle & Camel Brands

These consist of one letter and two numbers in any order. The first brand may be placed on any one of the undermentioned positions. Every subsequent brand must be placed on the position next in order of rotation, the first position regarded as following the sixth position.

Position and order of rotation of brands on horses:

1st position near shoulder

2nd position off shoulder

3rd position near quarter

4th position off quarter

5th position off saddle or off ribs

6th position near saddle or near ribs

Position and order of rotation on cattle:

1st position off rump and hip

2nd position near rump and hip

3rd position near shoulder

4th position off shoulder

Position and order of rotation on camels:

1st position near neck

2nd position off neck

3rd position near thigh

4th position off thigh

The brand must also be not less than 30mm or more than 80mm in height.

The owner of the registered brand impressed on any horse or cattle may, without registration, place any numerals directly beneath such brand for the purpose of denoting the age of the horse or cattle. The numerals must not be more than 80mm in height and shall be neither less than 50mm nor more than 80mm from the brand.
