Piloted in the Fleurieu Peninsula, the project provides integrated and strategic assistance to the olive sector, through the development of an export demand chain model for high quality branded South Australian olive products.
The Project was lead by the Fleurieu Regional Development Board, in conjunctions with PIRSA, the Centre for Innovation, Business and Manufacturing (CIBM); Olives SA; and industry participants.
Identification and development of specific market opportunities for high quality branded SA olive products.
Development of an export demand chain model for the SA olive Industry.
Identification and delivery of relevant training needs for the Industry participants.
Facilitate employment creation through a coordinated growth strategy for the olive industry.
Establishment of the Fleurieu Peninsula Olive Association.
Developed membership Best Practice Quality Guidelines for Association members.
Gained a representative on the Olives SA Board.
Facilitated a product development sub-group to produce new products.
Facilitated a relationship development sub-group to develop a structure for the commercial entity to produce and market Fleurieu olive products.
Organised self-funded training for Association participants in the areas of oil chemistry table olive and olive oil assessment, waste management, demand chain awareness and new product development.
