Background
The international market is an environment of continuous change and improvement. PIRSA, Apple & Pear Growers Association of SA, DPI Victoria together with AAA FarmBIS, funded the development of an integrated training programme to build understanding, knowledge and skills of the Australian apple industry to ultimately improve export performance.
Objectives

Encourage apple producers to adopt a market focus to their business operations.

The interactive workshops provide participants with the tools and confidence to develop a more competitive, sustainable and profitable business. This inturn contributes to a more stable and profitable apple industry and therefore more prosperous regional economies.
Key Achievements

Development and production of national training materials and delivery methodologies, incorporating PowerPoint presentations for each module, alignment to National Training Package competencies and evaluation methodologies.

Development of a comprehensive, best practice reference manual, consisting three major key topic areas: Cooperating to Compete – marketing Australian apples; On Time, On Specification - post harvest practices for export; and Producing the Produce Consumers Want – production methodologies.

3 interactive workshops delivered and tested with a pilot group of participants.

Development of a Train the Trainer process and associated training materials and delivery to Industry Development Officers nationally.
