The Department of Education and Children’s Services’ (DECS) purpose is to engage every child and student so that they achieve the highest possible level of learning and wellbeing, through quality care and teaching. In order to do this, DECS is developing its understanding of connecting roles and interdependencies throughout the organisation.
Staff of the Department work to achieve the health targets set out in South Australia’s Strategic Plan (EXTERNAL SITE). They work to find better ways to reach the goals of healthy and fit South Australians, who can count on a well-managed system providing them with good health education, prevention and care. The Department’s role is to set directions, formulate policy and strategic planning, and monitor the performance of the State’s health services and system.
The Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED) is the South Australian Government's key agency for economic and industry development policy. Created in March 2004, DTED's primary role is to contribute to ongoing economic growth and wealth creation in South Australia.

The Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity Conservation (DWLBC) was established under the Minister for Environment and Conservation in 2002 with an objective to improve sustainability through the integration and management of all of the State's natural resources and to achieve improved health and productivity of our biodiversity, water, land and marine resources.
