All olive growers are required to pay $6.00 per tonne of olives.
Money is collected by processors as part of the processing fee charged to growers. This applies to all olives grown in South Australia whether processed for oil, table olives, or other olive products.
The funds will be used by Olives SA Inc for a range of projects. These are outlined in the Olive Industry Fund 5-year management plan (PDF 347.1 KB).
All growers who contribute to the Fund automatically become members of both the State (Olives SA) and national (Australian Olive Association) olive industry bodies. Contact your Olives SA regional representative if you would like to participate in an Olives SA project.
Australian Olive Association membership will make all growers in SA eligible to participate in industry programs such as the national code of practice and Australian Extra Virgin branding programs.
Although contributions from olive growers are compulsory, a refund of contributions is permitted. Growers can claim refunds up until 31 December of the year after their olives were processed.
Note: You must attach copies of invoices from the processor showing the amount of olives processed and contributions deducted with the appropriate refund form below.
Growers who obtain a refund will not be eligible to participate in programs that are funded by contributions.
Processors are obliged to:
