To provide a platform for major change in the South Australian citrus industry, three economic studies were produced.
"The Growing Juice Gap - Opportunities for South Australia?" (.PDF) 325 KB examines juice industry issues. "South Australian Fresh Citrus - Issues and Prospects" (.PDF) 818 KB provides information on the fresh citrus industry for both domestic and export markets while "The Price of Frozen Concentrate Orange Juice" (.PDF) 67 KB investigates the costs of imported frozen concentrate orange juice.
A fourth report "South Australian Citrus Industry:Situational Analysis" (.PDF) 1.575 MB gives an overview of global, national and South Australian citrus production, supply chain and consumer issues.
A number of industry participants contributed to the studies.
In 2005, following on from the above studies, the Strategic Plan of the South Australian Citrus Industry (.PDF) 745 KB was developed jointly by industry and the Department of Primary Industries and Resources of South Australia (PIRSA) and identifies the actions that need to be taken to secure a profitable future. This Plan provides the directions for the future operational plans of the Citrus Growers of SA and the SA Citrus Industry Development Board for whole-of-industry benefit.
