Citrus Growers Fund

Amount collected for the Fund

Citrus growers are required to pay $0.65 per tonne of citrus produced and sold, to the Citrus Growers Fund.

These contributions are collected in accordance with the Primary Industry Funding Scheme (Citrus Growers Fund) Regulations 2005.

Contributions are deducted by packers or processors from payments made to growers at the same time as contributions to the Citrus Industry Fund ($3.20 per tonne for oranges and $2.20 per tonne for other citrus).

What the Citrus Growers Fund contributions are used for

The Citrus Growers Fund 5-year management plan (PDF 187.5 KB) outlines how the contributions will be spent to benefit the industry, for example:

  • Adoption of best practice management.
  • Maximising returns to growers.
  • Representing growers on quarantine issues.
  • Fostering positive relationships between growers and packers.
  • Support and development of marketing programs.

Refund of contributions

Although contributions from citrus growers are compulsory, a refund of contributions is permitted.

Requests for refunds are to be received by PIRSA during the month of April each year for all fruit packed or processed during the preceding 12 months to 31 March.

To request a refund please complete the refund form (Word 139.5 KB) and attach copies of packer statements that show the amount of contributions that you have paid. Send this information to the address on the form.

Growers who obtain a refund will not be eligible to receive services provided by the Fund.
