SA citrus growers have levies deducted from their payments to support state and national industry programs. Citrus packers and processors deduct these national and state levies from payments made to growers.
PIRSA support the citrus industry by managing contributions collected under the Primary Industry Funding Schemes (Citrus Growers Fund) Regulations 2005. This is called Citrus Growers Fund which collects $0.65 per tonne to support Citrus Growers of SA.
The Citrus Industry Fund is another State Fund. It is managed by the SA Citrus Industry Development Board which collects $3.20 per tonne for oranges and $2.20 per tonne for other citrus. This Fund is established under the Citrus Industry Act 2005 and its associated Regulations.
Please direct any enquiries for this Fund to the SA Citrus Industry Development Board.
A citrus packer must have an approved food safety arrangement and give notice to the South Australia Citrus Industry Development Board (SACIDB).
