SA CWA Emergency Aid Fund

The South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA) is working with Rural Business Support and other benevolent organisations, such as Rural Uniting Care, in South Australia to direct emergency relief - through necessitous circumstances funding - to farming families being adversely affected by the dry conditions in this state.

The SACWA Emergency Aid Fund is currently the recipient of generous donations via:

  • Dick Smith Foods – as part of the $1,000,000 donation given to CWA Associations across Australia.
  • Coles Supermarkets – through their current initiatives “in-store” across Australia.  These fund will also be allocated to CWA Associations across Australia.
  • “Parma For A Farmer” – the Australian Hotel’s Association in South Australia are fundraising through their hotels for the current rural crisis. These funds are also being allocated to SACWA Emergency Aid Fund for distribution.

Donations from the general public can be made via:

  • the SACWA website www.sacwa.org.au
  • cheque/money order – please provide address for receipt
  • cash at SACWA State Office, Mary Walker House, 30 Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town  5067
  • EFT Bank SA: BSB 105 010, Account 108099140, SACWA Emergency Aid Fund

Any farming or rural families in South Australia, seeking assistance through the SACWA necessitous circumstances funding can contact Rural Business Support on 1800 836 211 or email admin@ruralbusinesssupport.org.au – to discuss eligibility and application process.

Necessitous Circumstances funding is paid to recipients on an ongoing basis.  Either for a specific debt or up to $3,000 over 4 weeks for necessitous needs.

Events

Minnipa Agriculture Centre – Annual Field Day, Thursday 20 September

Presentations will include:

  • Russian Wheat Aphid and snails – Kym Perry (SARDI)
  • Early sown wheats – James Hunt (LaTrobe University)
  • How do I manage eroding soils – Brett Masters (Rural Solutions SA)
  • Using drone imagery – Scott Gilllett (Wisdom Data)

Come along and see a wide variety of trials and farm scale demonstrations:

  • New pasture species
  • Herbicide efficacy for barley grass
  • Controlled traffic
  • NVT wheat & barley
  • Ryegrass management
  • Canola varieties
  • Pulse options

Most of the day will be out in the field, so bring a hat! There will be:

  • Portable toilets and seating available at trial sites
  • Refreshments available
  • Lunch available to purchase

Sheep Technology & Innovation Day - Tuesday 25 September 2018

Demonstrations and trade display will include:

  • Telemetry - Drones - Shed and yard design - Sheep handling equipment - Farm and livestock software - EID tags - Solar pumps - Farm safety
  • PIRSA Biosecurity SA - Plants for your homestead - Desalination - Electric motorbikes - Sheep health information - Livestock SA - Natural Resources SA Arid Lands and Northern and Yorke (Wild dogs, weed and pest management)
