August rainfall and total winter rainfall has been below average in all districts. Crops have lost significant yield potential due to the dry conditions and crop production estimates have been cut by over 20% as a result to 5.5mt. Significant rainfall is needed immediately to stabilise yield potential at current levels. As a result the acting Minister has urged farmers to seek support in his announcement of the release.
