Provision of a public register is part of a strategy to demonstrate that there is transparency and accountability in the decision-making processes.
Section 115 and 116 of the Petroleum Act and s. 76 of the South Australian Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act require that a Public Register of licences be established for public inspection. These sections are intended to provide the means that will aid stakeholders in determining whether the regulatory objectives of the Petroleum Act have been met.
