Task

  • Identification of the different parts of a tree, both external and internal.

  • The ‘Trees’ fact sheet found in the Forestry Fact Sheets

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will understand that trees have different parts.
  • Students will be able to name and label various parts of a tree.
  • Students will understand the function of some of the parts of a tree.

Lesson Layout

  • Students observe trees in the school environment.
  • Discuss as a class the different parts of a tree that the students are already aware of.
  • Students work in groups to find out more about the different parts of a tree and fill in the worksheet.
