Lesson Plan - Let's Read About Forests
Task
- Read picture books together to learn more about the topic of Forests and Forestry.
- Students are to participate in their own learning through reading both non-fiction and fiction books on the topic.
Key Learning Areas
- Studies of Society and the Environment.
- English and Language.
Resources needed
- Non-fiction and fiction texts.
- Wide variety of fiction and non-fiction texts to share as a whole class.
- Book list.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to extend their understanding and experiences of forests and forestry.
- Students will learn by looking at and reading picture books about forests.
Lesson Layout
- As a whole group read some of the texts from the resource list.
- Discuss the content of the books.
- Break up into small groups, each sharing a book.
- Ask each group to report back to the class three things they found out about forests from their text.
