Eucalyptus globulus Trace Element Trial

AIMS:
To determine the Eucalyptus globulus growth response to applications of various trace elements.

CONCLUSIONS:
• The addition of fertiliser at establishment did not provide a statistically significant growth response over not applying fertiliser.
• The treatment with the highest growth response included the trace elements copper and zinc, however other applications with these two trace elements did not perform as well as nil fertiliser at planting + 45 months.
• Poor growth responses and survival rates recorded across all treatments in this trial can be attributed to soil moisture conditions and not to weed control or fertiliser treatments.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
• No fertiliser recommendations for Tasmanian blue gum at age 0 - 1 year can be made from the results of this trial.
