AIMS:
To investigate various patterns of second year weed control in Eucalyptus globulus plantations and establish their benefits.
CONCLUSIONS:
• Of the three sites studied, only that with an average height of less than two metres at age one (site C) showed a statistically significant response to second year weed control.
• At site C there was increasing growth with between row weed control, in row weed control, and complete weed control.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Second year weed control must be applied if average height is less than two metres at age one.
• Complete weed control is recommended in preference to strip along the row, or strip between the row application.
