A citrus packer, as defined under the Citrus Scheme, is a person who carries on the business of packing citrus fruit for sale. Citrus packers must give notice to the South Australia Citrus Industry Development Board (SACIDB) (external site).
Citrus fruit is defined as citrons, lemons, limes, grapefruit, mandarins, oranges, sevilles, tangerines or a hybrid of any of those fruits.
A citrus packer must have an approved food safety arrangement which includes having an approved food safety program that is audited by an approved auditor.
