Management Papers

Fisheries management involves many complex issues that involve balancing biological, economic and social objectives.

Fisheries management decision-making is therefore underpinned by consultative processes involving users of fisheries resources such as Aboriginal, commercial and recreational fishers.

These processes often produce reports on aspects of a fishery's management including research reports, scientific reviews and options papers.  These documents inform the decision-making process.

Exploratory and Developmental Fisheries Policy
A draft Exploratory and Developmental Fisheries Policy has been developed to facilitate the identification, development and assessment of commercial exploitation of fisheries resources for which there is currently little or no exploitation and is subject to restrictions and/or prohibition.  The period for public comment on this draft policy has now ended. 

The comments will be considered and the draft revised accordingly.  The Minister will release the final document in the near future.
