Pest Weed policies

The policies below are those approved by the Minister for Environment for the management of each species of plant declared under the Natural Resources Management Act 2004. Policies are reviewed periodically in consultation with the eight regional natural resource management boards. Landowners and other stakeholders can provide input to this process through their regional board.

Each policy contains a control program at State level that coordinates with the management plans developed for this plant by the regional natural resource management boards. The aim of a policy is to protect one or more industries or land systems from particular impacts of the declared plant. The program may require enforced control or destruction of infestations; or it may simply require the prohibition of the plant’s sale and transport. Accordingly, it determines which sections of the Act apply to that plant.
