Aquatic diseases can be devastating to native species and have significant economic implications for primary industries and aquaculture. Natural diseases can become a biosecurity issue if they cause a mass mortality and die off, eg. a fish kill.

Diseases that native species are not resilient too are of increasing concern to South Australia’s waterways as trade and intensive farming of species increases.
