Movement documentation is compulsory for all cattle and buffalo movements between properties not covered by the same Property Identification Code (PIC). This documentation is in addition to National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).
Animals should be accompanied by either of the following documents, and copies must be retained for seven years for traceability purposes.
National Vendor Declarations are the most commonly used and accepted form of movement document and can be obtained from Meat and Livestock Australia or call 1800 683 111.
To obtain NVDs producers must first have a PIC.

While NVD’s are preferred, a ‘stand alone’ Movement Waybill can be used as an alternative document for the purpose of meeting NLIS requirements in South Australia.
Where the movement involves change of ownership an NVD is the preferred document and will usually be a specified requirement of the purchaser.

For cattle entering SA you will also be required to fill in a health certificate.
