NLIS is Australia’s system for identifying and tracking:
The NLIS enables livestock to be tracked for food safety, disease control and market access purposes from their property of birth to their slaughter. This enables the rapid tracing of livestock in the event of any disease outbreak or residue incident which means the impact of these incidents on the particular livestock industry will be minimised.
This will help protect South Australia’s reputation as a supplier of clean and green animal products.
PIRSA works with the livestock industry to implement the NLIS and ensure the system meets both commercial and regulatory expectations.
Further information about NLIS can be found on NLIS Ltd's website.
