Horse movement

There are no movement or certification requirements for moving horses from interstate into South Australia.

Notifiable diseases

Any horses affected or suspected of being affected with a notifiable disease must not enter the state, unless authorised by the SA Chief Inspector of Stock.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is working with horse exporters to ensure horses meet importing requirements for Japanese encephalitis.

For more information about exporting horses, use the DAFF Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICOR).

Moving hay and fodder with animals may require plant health certification.
