Aquaculture Lease Area Opportunity

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals/companies to undertake farming of aquatic animals in a manner that involves regular feeding and or the farming of algae within the waters of the Boston Bay aquaculture zone (excluding Bickers Isles sector) located within the Aquaculture (Zones — Lower Eyre Peninsula) Policy 2013. A total of 16 hectares will be made available.

The Aquaculture Act 2001 and Aquaculture Regulations 2005 have been updated with amendments as approved by parliament. The changes commenced on 25 October 2012.

The PIRSA Seafood Industry Development group facilitates the achievement of priority outcomes to support South Australia’s seafood industries’ pursuit of production targets and capitalise on value adding and market opportunities.

The group builds partnerships with stakeholders along the seafood industry value chain including industry bodies and government agencies to identify, prioritise and implement seafood industry development programs and projects and progress initiatives supporting the sustainable growth of the state’s seafood industry.
