This section of the site offers a wealth of extras about the history and growth of agricultural industries in South Australia.
There is a bibliography section listing published material, Heritage Branch regional survey reports and conservation studies and other highly useful material for historical research, as are the listings of property maps and plans of various periods held in the State Library.
Agronomy Branch Reports from the Department of Agriculture (1968-80) give an insight into the many issues of that era. Transcripts from interviews held with many now retired employees of the former Department of Agriculture not only add the human touch to the State’s colourful past, but also give a glimpse of the many humorous and noteworthy events that occurred during each person’s time with the Department.
And there’s more – a pictorial collection of some of the best images captured throughout the timeline of agriculture in this State’s history including many brief stories help fill in the gaps in a more visual way.
Add to this many manuscripts, maps and obituaries and the user will soon realise the wealth of information that has been kept and now made secure to pass on to future generations.
